Background
TLAB is the organizing body for the whole Team Leader Program in the Freshman seminar course GT1000. It comprises of five members including me. To know more about TLAB, you can visit our page by clicking here. Now, I am going to tell more about GT1000 seminar.
I was a Team Leader for the course GT1000 since August 2011. My role as a Team Leader (TL) had been very exciting and fulfilling; hence, I decided to become a member of TLAB in February 2012 to make even a greater impact on Georgia Tech campus. To learn more about my responsibilities as a TL, you can go the Team Leader page under Work Experience tab.
GT 1000 is Tech's freshman seminar course. The course is taught by academic faculty and university administrators with advanced degrees, and upper-class students volunteer to serve as TLs in each class. TLs facilitate small groups within the class and offer mentoring, advice, and support to freshmen. Many students who have successfully completed GT 1000 report that the friendships they form with their fellow students and team leaders last well beyond the completion of the course. For twenty-five years, Tech has offered a freshman seminar course, and our data consistently show that successful students take this class. You can learn more about GT1000 by clicking here.

My Role
As a member of the Team Leader Advisory Board, my role is to:
- Recruit more than 350 TLs. Each TL has around 5 students assigned to them, reaching out to more than 1750 students every year on Georgia Tech campus.
- Train all the TLs before they start working with students assigned to them. As a member of TLAB, I have to hold training sessions, info sessions and provide support to all the TLs through out the semester.
- Organize and manage all the events such as Team Leader social event, spring training, fall training and info sessions.
- Work with all the instructors and Center for Academic Success staff to improve the Team Leader program by evaluating all the TLs when they are working.
- Hold office hours for TLs during which they can consult TLAB with issues they might be facing while performing their duties.
- Serve as TL for a GT1000 section.
